Plasma can be donated much more frequently than whole blood, and they both have different uses. It wouldn't be surprising for an area with many bloodbanks to begin phasing some out for plasma-specific banks.
But it also wouldn't be surprising to find the blood supply is tainted
I'm not quite sure what you mean? Yes if you donate plasma it will be replenished in the body, and you can donate plasma much more frequently than whole blood, but plasma and whole blood have slightly different use cases
You can donate: Whole blood every 56 days for males, every 84 days for females. Plasma every 6–14 days, depending on the donor program. Platelets every 14 days
