Earths poles are moving toward each other and they are picking up speed. When they meet, they will snap and leave our magnetic field weak. Cue the super flare that's due any time now. It will cause the crust to unlock and swing the ice caps to the poles. Causing mile high waves to sweep across the continents. Destroying everything except for the highest peaks.
