There was an app I used to have that showed me everything the local LEO were doing. Right down to what was on their screens. We used to use it when we heard helicopters. It stopped working because my area went digital, and required keys.

But there re still people that listen to the police scanner as a hobby. It just wasn't that big of a deal to me.
