NSA/NRO/CIA and peivate Ops have been doing this since early 2000s.

At the board meetings of a world's biggest mobile phone maker everybody was forced to pull out their phone batteries AND SIM cards before meetings began. These people designed and built phones for a living. They knew.

Now you know why they removed the removable batteries and are trying to make phones eSIM only.
