The vaxx uptake is definitely worthy of intense study and analysis. People from across the spectrum took it , from LSD using hippies to yuppies to conservatives.

Although, the idea of religious people as conservatives is a bit incorrect since most churches these days are very hip/liberal/progressive.

I would say the subtle reason is that Trump has never presented himself as an "authority" and never been accepted as such.
