it's hypnosis via media

a) HYP (depression of spirits) NOSIS (knowledge; perceivable)...ones consent to suggested (media) tempts one to ignore perceivable; hence depressing ones expression (spirit; spiro; to breathe).

b) being implies center (perceiving) of surrounding (perceivable)...consenting to suggested MEDIA (Latin medius; middle) tempts one to ignore this while putting others on the center-stage.
