Freight train carrying hot asphalt, molten sulfur plunges into Yellowstone River as bridge fails
A bridge that crosses the Yellowstone River in Montana collapsed, plunging a freight train carrying hot asphalt and molten sulfur into the rushing water below. No injuries were reported. Officials shut down drinking water intakes downstream while they eval...
Someone feel free to mem this if your feeling up to it. I'm all mem'd out... -.-
Rail bridges don’t just collapse. Most railways have a division called Bridges and Structures and their only job is to assess and maintain things like bridges and culverts. I have never heard of a train bridge failing in North America and some places still have wood bridges, or bridges supported by only wooden piles that are crudely pushed into a creek bed.
This bridge fell HOURS before the train got there. And, no one bothers to stop the train.
