The swirling arms of the cross are seen as entities by both thieves, one on either side. White/black in continual dualist dueling over material objects in a teeter-tottering fashion, imitating the invisible, (unseen) not black, fulcrum. (middle arm of the cross - the chrism)

Two are taken up to a high place. One looks down upon the grid and measures it as conquerable territory. He/they will use smoke and mirrors (imitation). Black Sun philosophy is a literalist twist of an older truism and is the common element in secret societies' cosmologies/beliefs.

Exposure is the result of light. It isn't the light. True explanation (of what it imitates) is the light. And that remains unseen by the eye.
