I don't know enough in this area of drug function to venture an opinion but it sounds plausible.

It sure seems like in modern society people's Ids take a large role, people seem to lack good self control especially the joggers we see fighting the time. In more advanced societies people have learned to control their primitive natures, but in the ghetto folk it seems like they never learned to bring the subconscious under control so they are emotion-driven much of the time. The process of maturing is the process of learning to control the primitive impulses, so the immature are very impulse-driven.
