You can see alot of the history of the planet if your into geography, and in a place, say like nova scotia where half the ground is at the wrong angle, around 70 degrees, the amount of force it would have taken to eject the rock, im glad I wasnt around the last time it happened.
Did you know that the great lakes didnt even exist until the beginning of this inter-glacial around 12,000 years ago. Over a 100,000 years, you have to wonder how much the landscape and the beings inhabiting would change in this amount of time.
Did you know that the lifeforms that currently exist are only a small fraction something like 1-3% of all life that has ever existed on this planet.
Also, do you guys remember that time all those ice cores melted in a redundant freezer at osu?
