Because the scale of food production with rice is much larger than consumer plastic production. They’re different issues and it’s not like you have to choose between them. That’s stupid logic.

They aren’t going to ban rice because of climate change.

The most likely thing to happen is that you’ll see this pressure spur the development of higher quality perennial rices that reduce the need for yearly planting in the first place.
