I will say, however, that in allegorical lore, the Old Testament God isn't considered a "good guy". Which quite frankly makes a lot of sense when you get into things. We don't primarily believe in or worship that god though, or any, we just have knowledge able to interpret various allegories. "The grand architect of the universe" is you and I, and the creative force that creates order out of chaos. Some forces out there unfortunately deliberately create chaos in order to bring their own brand of what they consider "order". This is earthly, and fleeting, and childish. A proper mason isn't seeking power any more than a parent who has a child wishes to have someone to rule over and control. A good parent wants to build a better life for their child. A mason wants to build a better world for those around him.
And also get drunk away from our wives a couple times a month and share BBQ recipies.
How does that jive with requiring Christians only at the upper ranks of York rite? (Ie. Grand architect)
