In this future digital ID gated internet, I think the best case would be it's limited to banking websites, major social media sites (leaving alternative sites like this one intact). Worst case, you can't even send IP packets or HTTP requests without said digital ID... I really don't know how it's gonna be implemented. Could be it's just a plugin type scenario that website owners opt in to adding, could be that it will be on the level of total protocol replacement, forcing everyone to switch over to the "new and improved" Internet Protocol "2.0" in the name of "security".
In any case, I've realized that society was better off when we didn't have this oh so alluring but covertly corrupting Internet. A return to the simpler life. I'll be downloading an archive of the really important stuff in case it gets to a point where us non digital ID takers get booted off the internet permanently.
