They are telling you about the lesser spills, to detract from the big one.

Some of these things are going to happen from time to time, manufacturing plastic comes with its risks which I see a plastics fire denoted here. I'm familiar with some polymer incidents and some make sense while others don't. Asphalt shingle manufacturer catches fire, not a big surprise. Fertilizer plant exploding is a big deal but that is a well known risk. Plastic manufacturer has stationary inventory in an unoccupied warehouse catch fire in the middle of the night and my eyebrows are lifted. I think a big problem here is that the investigators gravitate towards the quick/easy way to end the investigation.

"From 1990, the first year the BTS began tracking derailments and injuries on a yearly basis, to 2021, there have been 54,539 accidents in which a train derailed. That’s an average of 1,704 derailments per year."

1,704 / 365 = 4.67 p/day

Shit happens all the time. This is like getting a new car and then suddenly noticing that model of car all over the place.

Train derailments HAVE always been a thing, unlike 19 year olds with Alzheimer's.

What is the current rate of derailments and what is the historical rate? Is the change statistically significant?
