Seymour Hersh has become a limited hangout outlet of last resort. I have a hard time believing he's not alert enough to be aware of this, but maybe.
In this instance the message is, "The US government did not follow all the rules! But since we gotta fight these dirty Rooskies and stomp all over the Eurotrash in the process, maybe that's not such a big deal. And divers and blowing things up are cool!"
This is parallel to another such operation concerning OBL. There the message was, "Lying Obama did not give proper credit to all the foreigners who helped kill bin Laden! You know, the guy that was definitely still alive for Obama to kill and who didn't pass away from kidney failure in Tora Bora in 2001 and that we had two giant decades-long wars over. That one."

See how it works? Makes me wonder if he was handed the My Lai story long ago just to groom him. Remember, only one guy got punished over that, and just barely.

agreed, though i doubt he's conscious of it. TPTB have all of our psychology down to an exact science. he's likely manipulated through his info sources.
SH brought up Seth Rich in '16 then supposedly backed away from it. I did a search for his retraction, didn't find them, and only found commentary that he never retracted his statements. However, if SH didn't retract his statements, he didn't do shit to follow up on one of the hugest stories in a decade.
Yeah, I remember there being a kerfuffle with Hersh over the Seth Rich story. I looked into it a little at the time and thought, "Well, that story was really pretty involved considered in it's totality and anyone can get things wrong." Being the trusting sort (at that time) I went on my way.
In hindsight, though, it fits the model for Hersh. It was and is a big story and they had to pull out one of the big guns for it. On the flip side, the next time Sy comes out with a big tale, we know They are under pressure and we should examine it very closely to see the real payload.
Lotsa interesting commentary/topics links in the page's sidebar.
Seems to me that Helmer is trying hard to deflect from what happened and who caused it. A bit too hard. So who runs Helmer.
seemed to me more like he';s broadening the scope of actors/context than deflecting. guess i'll take another read.
