The state GOP is urging its members to kill a bill banning anyone from marrying a child under 16, calling it an attack on liberty that could hurt teen parents.

Looks like it passed. A few people opposed it okay so why? Have you figured out a good alternative for teens who want to have sex with each other? Please share your solution.

It's about Republicans opposing a ban on child marriage

Because the want to keep child marriage.

You do know that in some states in the US it is still legal for adults to marry and have sex with children?

If the bill is proposing this where one person is much older (ie more than a few years apart) then I am not going to defend it in fact quite the opposite. Is that what it states? Because I suspect this is instead a specific statute addressing the case where both people are essentially minors.
