The doubles and triples are for emphasis. You see the same thing in the Bible sometimes, when phrases are repeated once or twice.
666 is the encapsulation of physical reality, 777 spiritual reality.
777 is therefore lucky. 666 could be a descriptor for one who value's physical reality over spiritual.
