Why would the elite want a cashless society? Cash enables them to hide transactions and avoid taxes.
More plausibly, they don't want you pulling all your money out of Wells Fargo or Etrade, or whatever shit company you save your money in.

Elites print that cash to control their herds, why would they use it? Elites use pieces of art, archeological artifacts, rare gems and so on as their currency. They don't need to use cash at all at their scale. Also, they are those who lay down and gather taxes, not those who pay them.
They perfectly control all cash and have no problems with it. In a second they could change a value of cash in your pocket, using all that inflation/deflation or any other economic bullshit as a cover of their influence.
Cash is just another elite tool to control people, just like bank accounts or proposed CBDC.
Cashless society agenda looks more like an attempt to close banknote factories or make a larger profit, because it is much cheaper to "print" digits in computers backed with nothing than spend some efforts to print banknotes backed with nothing.
