Aren't they from Nibiru or something? Their planet (planet X) is supposedly on a highly elliptical orbit that goes way past Pluto at its furthest, but quite close to earth at its closest approach. Supposedly every 11k+ years?
If I recall correctly, they created humans as a slave race to gather resources for then, primarily gold, and they harvest it each time they pass through. The passing causes lots of earth cataclysms due to how close it passes through.
They use the gold as a fine aerosolized dust to trap heat in their atmosphere so that their planet doesn't freeze on the more distant ends of its orbit.
