This has been known for a long time any dentist I have seen in the last 10 years will want to replace any silver fillings you have.

I’ve been to 3 different dentists in the last few years and it’s never even been brought up. From what I’ve read, drilling them out can actually expose you to more mercury than just leaving them in.

Yes that is true. Drilling without precautions can actually expose you to a very large amount of mercury. If you want to get them removed find a dentist that specialises in the safe removal of amalgam, they use a rubber damn, water, forced air suction etc.

The trick is just to not get them in the first place lol.

Ok good to know, I’ll look for one like that. Thank you

Yeah, and those dentists are few and far in-between. I actually would have to drive to a neighboring state and it requires all in the room (other than the patient) to wear HAZMAT suits during removal. I too have heard it is far risky to have them removed

Mine is wonderful. I asked him about mine and he said 'well if you really want to' and scheduled two visits. One tomorrow to get rid of the ones on one side (the dentist who did them was eventually sued and committed suicide for doing unnecessary work). Then the next visit will do the other half. I hadn't been to the dentist in over 20 years. This guy said my teeth were wonderful and just needed a good clean. He found one cavity. I trust him. He could have said 5 and I would have believed him. He also showed me on the xrays and how to read them. So different from any other dentist I have ever been to. They even made sure I was numb during the deep cleaning.

I have autoimmune issues and I would like to get as much out of my body that can trigger that crap as possible.

I figured this was just some crazy conspiracy theory. Nope. I’ll probably opt for an amalgam alternative next time I need a filling

Maybe 5 years ago when I had my last filling my dentist said he did amalgam, I think it was the only ones that insurance covered 100% but I paid more for porcelain. Anyone know if amalgam is still used today?

I have a bunch of amalgam and my dentist says they are in good condition and doesn’t pressure me into replacing them.

I had one replaced but the dentist that removed it just drilled it out and I’m betting I was exposed to bad stuff.

I then went to a holistic place to see about removing the rest of my amalgam fillings, safely, and they talked me into first replacing one filling in a tooth that had a porcelain filling but they said it had signs of a cavity.

Well, long story short, that ended up turning into a root canal. And I just have given up and am still with a bunch of amalgam.

I told my dentist to remove them and I, after about a month, I definitely (maybe it was a placebo) felt an effect of my brain fog lessen.

Oh good, glad to know it probably wasn't a placebo :) thanks!

I think my mum had like 8 or 10 removed, not all in one go. Quite expensive too but she said brain fog was one of the main things that improved for her.
