No. There's never been a law against producing propaganda. Regarding MSM, look at operation Mockingbird. Congress approved gov agents to impersonate AP journalists, etc.
That is what I thought. Would be tough to prove anyway - to get around 1st Amendment. Wonder if there is a good solution (to prevent blatant propaganda / fake news) that isn't easily corruptable.

It made it illegal to show propaganda intended for a foreign audience to a domestic audience.
It allowed for this propaganda to be showed to domestic audiences if it would help the international effort.
It only applied to the Department of Statex and a few outlets like Voice of America and others under the US Broadcasting Board of Governors.
