Leaders good and bad are all appointed by God. Some are a chastisement for bad behavior, so the remedy for bad rulers is ourselves fixing our own lives and helping who we can around us. A few good people can save an entire city from destruction. We got to be good people otherwise we doom ourselves and our countrymen.

I’m not familiar with much Amish theology but they are (or were) right about this as far as I’m aware. I’m no Bible wiz or scholar but that’s my understanding of the biblical and Orthodox teaching of it. Participate but the biggest benefit you can have on society is being a good example.
