I may spot fakery in photos and paintings, but I have no knowledge of sculpture, which leaves me wondering about the technology required to achieve this effect. would be interesting to get an input from an actual sculptor. today we have 3D printing, digital photography and what not, but this technology wasn't around back when they started making those things. also, why wax? was it supposed to be the cheapest medium to sculpt in? seems like a waste.
