Whole books have been written about them. The Book of Mormon, for instance, prophetically and earnestly warns that secret societies were the downfall of a whole nation. Led to their complete destruction,... multiple times the people in those times were killed off completely because they dabbled in these societies. Not pseudo-history if reviewed in context.
