In the early 1990s documents surfaced out of Russia that included detailed plans and reports relating to the massacre of roughly 20000 Polish citizens in the Katyn Forest. At the Nuremberg trials, German officers plead guilty to, and were later executed for, planning and leading the massacre. In reality, the Germans were 100s of miles away from Katyn Forest at the time of the massacre, and Katyn Forest was well behind soviet lines in occupied Poland. When the German officers found the mass graves as they pushed the soviets back, they sent for a medical examiner from the (then "neutral") United States; the doctor's report to the president of the United States confirmed that the killing had been done with soviet arms weeks before the Germans were in the area. Interestingly, the report was buried, and neither it nor the medical examiner ever saw the inside of a Nuremberg court room. The lie that the Germans were responsible for Katyn Forest persists today, despite official acknowledgement of wrongdoing and cover up from the Russian government. The soviet union was well known for violent political repression, brutal genocide, lies, disinformation, and show trials; and here is an example of all of that wrapped up in the Nuremberg trials; and here you are still believing a WW2 narrative based largely on stories told at those trials.
