Actually, taxation is slavery. Imagine if the government took 100% of the fruits of your labor and only gave back to you the basic necessities of life. That is the literal definition of slavery. Now look at the income tax rate. We're already halfway to full-blown slavery.
You still technically "own" those things for a while, but planned obsolescence guarantees that you won't own it for long. If everything you buy becomes obsolete or broken, it will eventually be more affordable to rent everything you need instead of buying a replacement every 6 months.
So I don't think we're there quite yet, but it's definitely a step in the wrong direction.
