Airplane engines are pretty much indestructible. And as for the damage a plane can do imagine the weight of the fuel in the wings. The difference between throwing a full vs empty soda can at someone.
The box beams were over 2” thick tapering at the top levels, it was also clad in concrete panels. It would have been like firing a lead bullet at a hardened steel plate, it would vapourize with minor damage to the structure, just as we saw. Subsequently they were brought down with charges placed in the elevator shafts, the core columns you see in the photo by ACE elevator co.
