Likely won't work, as the courts will throw it out. For example, they tried a $1,000 tax on handguns in a US territory, the Marianas Islands, and the court said no. This was after Heller.

You're only right, in that you can get a new tax with only 51 votes, avoiding the filibuster, so a tax on guns is more likely than new gun control. But it's a very old idea that never gets legs, and the $200 tax stamp from 1934 was the last time it worked.

And when turbotaax asks you "do you own any firearms?" Which you answer no, to avoid the tax, they will figure out that you lied through your FFL paperwork that recorded you purchasing the firearm. They will then be able to fine you, garnish wages, and come take the guns away.

What it allows them to do is investigate US citizens without a warrant. They "found irregularities" in your tax filings and have "opened an investigation." I know 4 infantry vets in my town of 15k who have been audited in the past 2 years, and I know a very small sampling of the veteran population here. They plan to do this to any "right wing extremists" who question the regime.
