Unless you mean an actual bouquet of flowers and adulation then no, no they wouldn’t.
All of our forefathers observed all the same lies and manipulations and observed all the same stupid rules as for the Spanish Flu, and the world wars. Doubtlessly lots were alive to the lies of it all then too but the general public lapped up the lies and ostracised those who didn’t.
Even today ‘draft-dodging’ is looked back upon as an act of unmitigated cowardice when in actual fact going against the crowd and massive expectations in that manner, if done for the right reasons, is an act of bravery.
Tedros would have been heralded and celebrated as an altruistic hero and someone who ‘walks the talk’ for saying these things - just like he is today.
I agree and I think that’s because many African countries don’t have to deal with continuous propaganda being launched at them through an array of media on an array of electronic devices.
They’re a but more down to earth perhaps and a bit more real than what we’ve been trained to become.
