If the story we heard was completely true, well, we wouldn’t hear about it outside these forums. It would have been swept under the rug in an instant. Anything that’s touted across all mainstream sources 24/7 is there because it serves an agenda.
Orange man bad, Russian man bad Ukrainian man good, vaccines, Bin Laden, gun control, the list goes on and on. It’s certainly not traditional journalism that made headlines out of any of these stories, not to mention the convenient Netflix documentaries that distill the subjects even more.
They wanted this story out. Whether as a distraction, or to blatantly say to our face “yeah we spy on all of you, whtcha gonna do about it?”
His job was to sow distrust for the NSA among the public with the desired intent to shut it (the NSA) down.
The reason being: the NSA were not only spying on you and me. They were spying on EVERYONE. Everyone, including the deep state and their minions. The NSA had been diligently recording the illegal activities of the deep state by monitoring their internet and cell phone activities, including all text and emails. They have them by the balls.
Snowden, by doing his ‘good deed’, was in fact trying to protect the deep state by bringing down the NSA, and all of their collected evidence with it.
The only problem is, the general public did not give a fuck as they have nothing to hide.
I would say he's definitely a psyop, and in addition to whatever other material arguments you may find, here's the bizarre tell: his glasses. Look very closely at the glasses he wore during all those early interviews. You'll see that the left-side nose pad is missing. IDK if you've ever had one of the pads break on your glasses, but you just can't stand it very long. Ed never gets it fixed.
It gets even more bizarre when he gets to Russia. Rather than getting new glasses, he's pictured in casual snapshots without glasses at all. Did he get contacts? Nope, because in subsequent interviews he's back with the same broken glasses.
I've never thought about it much, but my money would be that he's a Russian intelligence asset. They have always taken Intelligence very seriously and have had the best. Plus, he seems very comfortable in Russia, when you think they would lean on him for intel as the price for staying. And why doesn't the US call him out? What, and admit that he penetrated both the CIA and the NSA? No way.
The mainstream opinion is he's a traitor. You had congressmen openly calling for his death. I don't get how you're trying to infer that he was a psyop by stating your distrust for the mainstream opinion.
Let's not forget that what he did was relevatory at the time, even though people on this very thread say it was always known. Some people may have suspected what the NSA was up to, but having the evidence out in the open was eye-opening to many, many more.
He is like a person who willingly and knowingly got a job in a drug cartel, work for a decade, and then suddenly quit telling nothing more than "they are selling drugs to people for money!!!!".
Snowden didn't tell anything that was not known before.
Snowden did not provide any useful info at all. Not a single name, photo, IP address, location, password, private key, source code. Nothing that could be useful to mitigate threats or interfere/disrupt activities of that useless eaters from NSA.
Definitely not a hero. Just some loud "political refugee" from US to Russia, same as all that loud "political refugees" from Russia to US.
Suddenly, you don't need to ask for "political asilum" to move to Russia, just get a visa, move here, find a job or open any business / buy property here, get permanent residence, do no shit for 5 years and don't leave Russia for more than 3 months in a year during that period and you will get a Russian citizenship. Since Snowden is some kind of IT specialist he even could had get a Russian citizenship by simplified procedure.
