Long ago, I heard an interview with former agents, one each from the FBI, CIA, and DEA. One of them (ex-CIA, I think) mentioned that the first couple of years of training was just pure indoctrination into what a super-patriotic thing they were doing. I'm sure these new hires have no doubt they are saving the nation, and will do their utmost.
Oddly, I found this related to a paper by Miles Mathis on how the "Harry Potter" books were written by an Intelligence organization. It sounds far-fetched at first, but he produces a lot of evidence. Consider how the main messages of "Harry Potter" make sense in the context of the indoctrination I just mentioned:
"Listen, you're a young wizard. The muggles hate and fear your power, and will never understand you or the other people like us. They have no idea of the big struggle we're involved in. Why, those muggles would all be dead if it wasn't for us! You may not understand everything right now, but just do everything the elders tell you."
It really makes you wonder if all the books are required reading at Langley, doesn't it?
