the sub used to be pretty neutral and calling out corrupt govt (wich admittedly is a right-wing policy)
but recently the place seems to have been flooded with left-wing trolls
and it's a pretty new development. and I mean flooded.. I mean the place resembles exactly like any other left. the marker being in a normal sub like this you post something against the Democrat party when they deserve it and you receive the appropriate up votes
in a left-wing sub anything outside the left wing agenda is downvoted heavily. you all know it you go to a left-wing sub and it's just into the negatives
well that's r/conspiracy
post anything against the Democrat party and it's just negative into the downvotes
there's really just exclusively a left-wing sub now. it's been flooded with accounts that have never posted there before and their entire Post history are just trashing on conspiracies and republicans
so basically your period typical partisan democrats.. and they flooded the place. and the mods refuse to ban them
the mods are banning the normal users and refusing to ban the left wingers who are only there to troll it. the place has gone downhill substantially and it's basically just destroyed and just another left-wing propaganda sub
First of all, the whole "everyone you disagree with is a shill" routine was used ad nauseum just a few years ago. I now see that as an immediate red flag that an account is being operated by shills.
And it is not at all true--I agree with some of the things shills write. I disagree with people quite often who I do not suspect of being shills.
The shills I am talking about are ones whose job it is to disrupt online communities. They attain their goal by a number of methods. Anything written to that end by organizations that fall under that umbrella does not meet my definition of free speech. They are not writing to inform or directly persuade, but to thwart the communication process itself.
Discussion moderators are responsible for this, ideally with help from the community at large.
I'm not saying this is a perfect solution, but it's the best I can think of using the limited software tools we have at our disposal. We are under constant attack and they are winning.
Yes, everybody knows that the power to ban can be abused. I even find myself more sensitive to shill activity that is pushing a point of view contrary to mine, but that isn't the point. The idea is to make it more difficult for groups to create large numbers of accounts in an attempt to interfere with learning about topics that those people would rather we didn't.
