Directed energy weapons are real, but they were not used on the towers. More conventional weaponry was what was used. Directed energy requires nearby antennas or dishes or lasers. But the total energy required to blow up the towers was higher than what DE does whereas nukes blowing up in the elevator shafts were perfect for the job. Nukes also explain the odd phenomena like car paint being burned off while newspapers did not ignite, blocks away - it was high energy radiation from beams out of the nukes.

Also, the seekers claiming holographic technology was used are wrong. Those were real planes that entered the towers.
