They already are. All rifles with automatic fire capability, which is part of the definition of assault rifle, are heavily regulated.

What is "well vetted?" Like...the feds come and ask yer mom if she thinks you're stable enough? All the while KNOWING that this is all bullshit to take guns out of law abiding citizens hands. Hahaha! I love that they hate me. It feels really good.
