Dude, I'm a fat retard and I can probably with no training, run 13.1 miles and not die. The term 'run' being relative
I've hiked >1000 mi in the mountains with a 40+ lb pack on, and now my 40 lb pack is on muh belleh. I think I can run 13 miles
I question the validity of this. Tons of injuries happen at ironman races, I know this from experience, but have no personal experience with half marathons.
All of the above, plus someone gets hit by a car etc. The cardiac episodes aren't super common but do happen as 60+ year olds doing 70 mile races it's just a matter of when not if. Less than 15 miles though and no bike or swim makes the hospitalization stakes much lower.
Yes. 60+ year olds. This cat was 30 and it was like 80 degrees. It was t some outrageous temperature they do it every year at this time. All 16 had heart or chest issues.... I mean come on!
Unseasonably warm weather yesterday, relative humidity of 97%.
Same thing happened in 2014 to a 31 year old.
People should have a sense when they are going to ass-plode their heart, and maybe ... stop?
We're talking about competitors filled with "never give up" spirit here, not a 65 year old boomer having heart pains while begrudgingly penetrating his wife for the 10,000th time.
