I think so. The article goes into intrusive thoughts normal people think a little bit. It give the example of an intrusive random thought I've personally had and you've probably had something like it too.
"I should drive into the opposite lane of traffic. That might be neat."
Like what the fuck, who thinks that? You obviously don't intend yourself harm. You would never actually drive into traffic.
So whos intent was that?
After you shake your head off of that lie you try to rationalize it somehow, like you were just wondering about it, wondering what would happen if you did..... but thats not really what happened, is it?
I think that if people are honest with themselves they can't say they've never thought that they should kill themselves before. Most "sane" people however are able to easily recognize the lies that try to convince them to kill themselves. You're not a loosh cow to be drank, so you're left alone.
Some people however do believe the lie, for whatever reason. Could be environmental (upbringing, early childhood trauma, just the literal environment you live in) or genetic, probably some of both in most cases.
Luckily whatever the cause it seems like the solution is the same for all.
