I doubt it. He has the planet following him after his purchase of a social media platform. It's both publicity and controversy. He also had a huge genuine following before because of his status. More so than many others.

He doesn't need bots to boost his cred. There are obviously some, because of other press/trolls and corps/gov employing them.

Where do the bots come from. Corps, a lot of press, GOV, and the platform. It previously had a heap of progandists, middle management organisations selling advertising and narratives.

The press have been some of the vilest trolls on this planet. They're prevalent on every social media platform, recently more than ever with specific online press feeds. Until bots are writing the feeds. Find it. Bots are writing books/novels today. They've been utilising them to arm narratives, like what Cambridge Analytica had done. But it was only a glimpse. There are many more organisations to less or more extent. Despite of other troll farms. Which is basically what online press has become.

Removing them or suggesting to do so from Twitter threatened national security in steps the presidency. Hence the department of truth.

Their real use was swaying opinion. Attacking and discrediting any others. Twitter used them to ban and remove content. As it was far too much effort trolling the feeds from an office of shills. Deploy the bots instead. Until they've advanced into levels of nothing but echoes, generating fake profiles, likes, publicity. Sure a dumb person programmed them and another office manages them. But without them there's no department of truth..
