I saw this video circulating last season. The practice has been around since the 30s. They usually use it to keep prices high by limiting supply. It is odd that they still use it given recent price acceleration.
This practice isnt new. Shits straight out of Atlas Shrugged. Also, the first guy was growing soy beans. Those arent really used to feed us. It goes to bio-fuels and cattle feed....a lot of it used to go to China for their cattle but last i knew a bunch was being sold cheap to Brazil instead.
During the Great Depression the government did this to try to make farm prices go up by scarcity. My grand parents took the money, but sold the pigs at market anyway.
