Plus this doesn't explain contact cases. Assuming also that "contact cases" are actually shared common source such as the almond milk example then we're left with figuring out what the vector is. Maybe ice cubes? There was an ice shortage.
It wouldn't even need to be "all over the world"; just a few major cities. Maybe the cities that have bottling plants, Coke products use municipal water supplies.
