I didn't save a link to the story, but the repair guy said it went the usual way. He repaired the laptop, then left messages for Hunter to come pick it up. After 3 months, or whatever was specified on the repair contract, went by it was deemed abandoned and property of the repairman.

As to precisely why Hunter never came and got it, well, once you figure out why normal people do what they do, we can get back together and figure out why crackheads do what they do.
