if it's for production of plastics and other chemicals, getting it in liquid form might not be so bad.
You are right in that we should just get our own gas, the Netherlands should just reimburse the people who get their homes damaged from the fracking and just go full bore for a couple of years while we transition away from gas for heat and other energy.
They still have the infrastructure in place but are in the middle of shutting it down for political reasons.
Having said that, I'd just open nordstream 2 buy cheap Russian gas but scrap gas as an intermediary for the energy transition and hasten it's phase out to a decade instead of 2050 in favor of nuclear
It's not perfect but the cons are extremely exaggerated.
And the amount of nuclear waste generated by industry and healthcare are severely under estimated.
So not using nuclear power while having to deal with tonnes of nuclear waste anyway is dumb.
