They really haven't. I am watching a documentary by Attenborough. It is all he talks about worming its theoretical tongue into established facts, like these are the species present and they have not grown into dinosaurs.
I don't even think he knows what he is talking about. I am watching about Animals with unique properties, specifically how they regenerate. Salamanders. Brilliant facts and science. No evolution attempted, or suggesting of the mythical hydra. Until he got to the garden variety of Moose, they regrow their antler horns. Then the guy turned insane. It went from rational to the absurd in an evolutionary heartbeat. Because apparently there's this long since once upon a time ago extinct species of megafuna called the Irish Elk. He hypothesised it went extinct because its antlers grew far too big and crushed its head. Killing them all off. Or it couldn't procreate because its antlers grew too big. Or a genetic evolutionary birth defect causing the horny and wiped out an entire species. Not simply because nobody can prove what happened to the mythical dryad outside of gross misspeculation. Where contrary to rudimentary biology and elementary science none of the above will occur. Not in evolution either.
