I am sure they thought about it, but not to deeply. I'm in waters deeper than my knowledge on this subject, all I know, basically, is that when my kid with allergies got a pass on some vaccines because they are grown in eggs, they were quick to point out to me "oh, they aren't grown in eggs anymore." He'll never get the flu shot regardless, because I don't trust them anymore.
There are lots of people allergic to eggs, my recollection is that's why there was the switch.
