They were caught burning or otherwise destroying the stuff, so had no choice but to come out in public about it. That fire at the top of the building at the nuclear plant was probably also them burning some kind of evidence. No projectile hit that building, i think, and Russia says Ukrainians lit that fire. It was at the top of a bulding where a CEO or top staffer's office would've been. Maybe there was fraud or embezzlement.
