Nationalism is not the same thing as Nazism. Nazi means national socialist and carries with it fascists ideologies such as the state control of culture. Nationalism is the belief that the state has the right to determine its own destiny (ie. in contrast to globalism)
Bear in mind Russia's 'annex' of Crimea occurred after the 2014 Ukraine Color Revolution Coup. Russia couldn't allow Crimea to fall to the Neo-Nazi's so Putin called out Obama by literally crossing Obama's "Red-Line".
Its also worth noting Ukraine has been Russian since at least 1700's. Ukraine and its people are Russian thru and thru.
Russia annexed a chunk of Ukraine and then there was an uptick in anti-Russian violence.
Hypothetically, if Canada annexed Maine with a tank army, would we call anti-Canadian violence in New Hampshire 'nazi'?
Or at some point is "far-right nationalism" merely people defending their houses from encroaching invaders?
