For the same reason, ordinary people should no longer be allowed to read or own a Bible. Are you a priest, qualified to know it's meaning? We are only follow the will of God, as given by those appointed to authority over us. Reading the Bible, or any other sacred texts for that matter, will only lead to heresy.
