Suppose you were walking down the street and see billowing clouds of smoke coming out of a building. A huge crowd of firemen looking at it all spin on their heel and walk briskly away. I think most would definitively conclude something was very, very wrong about that situation. But I suppose if you really wanted to, lacking specific evidence, you could convince yourself there was no fire and all firemen were dedicated professionals and just continue walking on your way.
