It seems like it could be a general plan of royalty to stay in power after WW1. Take over banking, put loyalists in positions of power inside the media and government, and set up shadow control of the world, murder any leaders that oppose them. The anti-populist, we know better than you, attitude of some of these people sure fits with that theory.
