I've also heard about farmers in India signed contracts to only grow GMO seeds. Which could not be replanted every year. They signed the yearly subscription plan where they have to rebuy their seed on the annual subscription service. GMO seeds often cannot be replanted because of legal reasons and often because these 'varieties' are infertile.
Also if your cucumber plant gets cross-pollinated by bee-ing next to a GMO crop you are in violation of Monsanto's patents.
