Petition to Investigate the Attack on the USS Liberty

In 1967, Israel attacked the ship and crew of the USS Liberty (AGTR-5). Israel said it mistook the USS Liberty for an enemy ship. The USA asserted the same without conducting a full investigation. Survivors of the attack, and many others, believe that Israel knew they were attacking a USA ship.

Provides one theory for America's destabilization of the Middle East. It's not for oil (oil theory could be misdirection).
A common strawman used to misdirect is Israel wanted to destroy US surveillance capabilities, and attacked USS Liberty for this reason. The above source does a take down of that theory.
